# sync, status, logs

> Sync shares now, show what the local envd knows, and read its connection and sync log.

These talk to the envd on this machine: your sandbox, or the environment you run them in.

## envctl sync

```bash theme={null}
envctl sync [--share <name>] [--json]
```

Syncs every share this envd writes, or one, and returns once each receiver has acknowledged.

```text theme={null}
linux-build-3f2a-src gen 4: 1 of 1187 chunks sent (5.7 KB), 1 written, 0 deleted, acked in 160ms
  left out: 3 by .gitignore and the defaults, 1 secret files
```

## envctl status

```bash theme={null}
envctl status [--json]
```

Shows the envd's name, its services, its shares with their last generation, the peers it can see, and, in a build box, its Bazel cache's hits and misses.

## envctl logs

```bash theme={null}
envctl logs [-n 50] [--follow] [--json]
```

Every connection and every sync, allowed or refused, with its reason:

```text theme={null}
2026-10-18T03:36:10Z sync  sb-devi-laptop→linux-build-564a linux-build-564a-src 547ms 5.7KB gen 1: 1 of 1187 chunks and 3 trees sent, 1 files written, 0 deleted
